CNC Machining

On-demand CNC machining is a cutting-edge manufacturing process that delivers precision and efficiency. By utilizing computerized numerically controlled machinery, it achieves exceptional accuracy in shaping and crafting parts from various materials through pre-programmed software to control movement of production equipment. From simple to intricate designs, CNC machining ensures consistent quality, rapid production, and cost-effectiveness.

Processes include milling, turning, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and grinding.

Milling

CNC milling is a machining process that uses rotary cutters to remove material from a steady workpiece. It involves precise control of the machine's movement on different axes. Three-axis milling machines move the cutting tool along the X, Y, and Z axes. Four-axis machines add a rotational axis (rotating the workpiece) for multi-sided machining and decreasing manual repositioning. Five-axis machines have two additional rotational axes for complex cutting at various angles (A-axis and C-axis).

Turning

CNC turning utilizes computer-controlled lathes to shape cylindrical parts. It involves rotating the workpiece while a cutting tool removes material to create the desired shape. Providing high precision and efficiency, it is ideal for producing shafts, pins, fittings, and other cylindrical components. Turning operations typically have two main axis, in addition, there is a third axis which allows for rotational tools enabling milling and drilling. With on-demand CNC turning, manufacturers can quickly and accurately create custom parts to meet specific design requirements.

Electrical Discharge Machining

EDM

Sinker EDM (Die-Sinking EDM): In sinker EDM, a shaped electrode and a workpiece are submerged in a dielectric fluid. An electrical discharge, or spark, is generated between the electrode and the workpiece. This discharge removes material from the workpiece through controlled erosion. Sinker EDM is commonly used for creating intricate shapes and cavities in hard materials, such as molds, dies, and tooling.

Sinker EDM

Wire EDM (Spark EDM): Wire EDM utilizes a thin, electrically conductive wire electrode, typically made of brass or copper, to cut through the workpiece. The wire is guided through the workpiece using computer-controlled movements. As the wire passes through the material, electrical discharges or sparks occur between the wire and the workpiece, eroding the material along the desired path. Wire EDM is often used for prototyping, precision parts, and complex geometries.

Grinding

CNC grinding is a precision machining process that uses computer-controlled machines and grinding wheels to remove material from a workpiece. It is essential for achieving tight tolerances and smooth surface finishes for applications such as precision parts, tooling, and molds. CNC grinding is commonly used in various industries to produce precise components with high accuracy. The process involves setting up the workpiece, selecting the appropriate grinding wheel, programming the machine, and performing the grinding operation.
